Operation Deconstruction: Research on Accessibility and Usability

Usability Concerns

A link to the school board simply takes us to another page, but no real school board information is available. Only pictures. If you have a page set aside for content, and none is yet available, it is best not to place a link to such a page. The link to the news item, "Textbook Adoption materials..." is unnecessary; the actual news had ample space to live on the home page. The front page of the site could use more content and a stronger visual scaffold. The image below is a combination of the regular page view in Mozilla, and the text-only view in Lynx.

Accessibility Concerns

As one can see above, the graphics and buttons do not appear for text browsers, and only one link is clickable using Lynx: the single news story. The use of Flash buttons (which is unnecessary) and invalid HTML combine to shut-out the page to viewers using non-standard browsers.
